The grade level that I chose to analyze and examine for the ELA technology standards was 8th grade. The standards outline the necessity for the educator to be able to clarify the meaning of unknown and known word meanings and phrases, evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of certain mediums, integrate multimedia displays in your lesson plan, gather relevant information, and write, critique, and explain certain topics. I feel that I am capable that I would be able to implement these standards based on my current skill set. I would need to improve upon my ability to analyze and write about certain pieces of information because I am not the best at articulating myself and I need to expand my vocabulary.
The resource that I identified that I'd use in my classroom was a lesson plan on the impact that humans have had on the Earth. The resource identified talking points such as: water quality, air quality, urbanization, desertification, erosion, and other topics. I would use this specific resource in my classroom because I'd like for my students to be conscious on the impact that they have on the environment outside of the classroom. Furthermore, if they know about the consequences of their actions they can also educate others on the ways human interaction can affect the environment and the earth.
It is important to be a proficient internet searcher as a teacher because as an educator it is your duty to be able to find accurate and reliable information in a timely manner for your students. Since we live in the information age it is imperative as an educator to the youth that we educators are able to navigate the information and provide it to students in a way that is easy for them to convey and be able to find again. The internet search skill that I think I will use the most going forward is the advanced search feature in Google. The advanced search will be one I use the most because I like accessing data bases when I do psychological research.
